Presidential Delegation from Yunnan Minzu University visits Yale

From March 28 to March 31, 2017, the President of Yunnan Minzu University, Jinhua Na, the director of the Academic Committee, Shao Ying He, as well as the directors of relevant functional departments and relevant faculties, visited Yale University. The 2-day visit included interactions with directors and faculties of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, the Industrial Ecology Research Center, the East Asia Studies Center, the World Cultural Heritage Research Institute, the Office of International Students & Scholars, the Department of Anthropology, the Department of Museology, and the Yale Himalayan Initiative. The delegation from Yunnan Minzu University expressed their gratitude for the hospitality and goodwill they received from faculties, students, researchers, and people they met at Yale.

President Na gave a comprehensive introduction of Yunnan Minzu University during their meeting with Ingrid C. Burke, Dean of Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. President Na talked about YMU’s topics ranging from teaching, research, personnel training, social services, cultural heritage, campus construction, and school governance system. President Na also expressed the intention to cooperate on teaching at multiple levels and construction of high-end scientific research platform with Yale University. Having listened to the introduction, faculties of Yale University praised and congratulated the achievements of Yunnan Minzu University. In a friendly atmosphere, the two parties discussed the possible ways to collaborate on issues involving teaching, research, and exchange programs for students and faculties.

During their stay at Yale, the delegation also visited the Sterling Memorial Library, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Peabody Museum, Old Campus, and Branford College. The delegation expressed appreciation for the historical and architectural beauty of the college during their campus tour.
